Who Are You?
Who Are You?
Story time: I went to my first conference with my company 4 years ago. At the time, I was new to the industry. And didn’t know what to expect.
I’m pretty serious and often skeptical. Mostly, I don’t go in for hype and tend to be reserved.
So I chose to sit in the dark conference center. And as the meeting was about to begin, music blasted through the speakers, and anticipation was in the air. I watched as others greeted each other like long-lost friends. And raised their voices to be heard over the music.
I felt a little lost and alone, fear creeping in and asking why I was there.
Who Are You Going To Be?
As the speakers came to the stage, the arena erupted with excitement and cheers normally reserved for celebrities. Taken aback, I looked around suspiciously and sat in reserved judgment. Why were these people so excited? What was this all about? This wasn’t me… at all.
During that first session, I asked myself a question that changed my life.
“Amy, who are you going to be?”
Are you too good to be here?
Will you sit in judgment of others?
Do you want to stay on the sidelines?
Or will you hide in a dark room and let anxiety, fear, and worry keep you from believing in yourself?
Who I Was
I knew deep down I had a story about who I was… and who I wasn’t.
And I knew I wasn’t one of “those people”.
In that moment I looked around. “Those people” were happy, passionate, driven, and freaking successful.
At the time, I remember thinking so clearly, “This is it. I’m either in or out.”
Then and there I decided I wanted what they had. So, I let go of the judgment I was hiding behind and opted in.
Now you’ll find me cheering like a crazy fan at a concert. For example, when Ray, Luis, or Stuart step on stage. And you’ll see me celebrate the loudest when others win.
Finally, you’ll find me dancing, hugging, laughing. And dang proud of who I’ve become.
You can change your story… I know because I changed mine.

Hi! I'm Amy Earle
When I was a kid I was obsessed with government and history. I was sure I’d be a high school history teacher. Instead I chose to homeschool my own children. Soon after beginning, I was introduced to the principles of leadership education and the importance of teaching children how to think, instead of simply filling them with what to think. This led me on a journey that changed everything for me. We’ve gone the path less traveled and it has made all the difference.
